Skin is the largest organ of the body, and it protects all the body organs within. During the course of time, the cells of our body are being repaired and replaced constantly. The top most layer of the skin known as the epidermis is made up of dead cells, which are constantly shed from the body. It is the elastin and collagen present in the deeper dermal layer of the skin which gives skin its strength and elasticity. Production of elastin & collagen cells in the dermis is slowed down as we age, which accounts for the loss in skin tone and the appearance of fine lines.

There are many methods of treating sun damaged skin, depending on the skin type and the exteny of damage. IPL Photo Facials combined with Microdermabrasion produce effective results. During the IPL treatment, light emitted from the hand piece produces heat which is absorbed by the cells. This heat stimulates the sluggish fibroblast cells to produce more collagen & elastin fibrils. This increase in the collagen & elastin cell production plumps up the skin, reducing pore size and softening fine lines.

Constant exposure to the sun without proper sun protection causes change in the skin which manifests itself as age spots, freckles, enlarged pores and uneven skin texture. To protect any further skin damage it is important to wear sun protection cream with at least SPF 30.

Frequently asked Questions:

What is the treatment like?
IPL treatments are non-invasive and safe, with absolutely no down time. A broad band of light is absorbed by the melanin pigment, causing it to darken and exfoliate over a few days.

Is the treatment painful?
Cool gel is applied to the areas to be treated which helps in gliding the IPL hand piece smoothly over the skin. The light from the hand piece is perceived by most people as a gentle "snapping" sensation, causing little to no discomfort.

How many treatments are needed?
Depending on the area and the concentration of the pigment, the length of treatment may vary. A good assessment can be given after the consultation.

Are IPL treatments safe?

Yes IPL treatments are very safe and there have been no reported cases of blistering, scarring or burning.
