The most obvious manifestation of sun damage is pigmented lesions. These marks may be caused by the overexposure to sun, aging or congenital factors. Pigmented lesions appear on the face, neck, arms, back or even on the legs. Pigmented lesions are areas of high concentration of the pigment melanin.

IPL procedures are safe and quite simple for treating pigmented lesions. The treatment may be described as "cooking" the melanin and "sloughing off" the damaged lesion as the skin normally exfoliates. Soon following treatment, the pigmented lesion may appear slightly darker than before but it will soon slough itself without leaving any marks. This is a safe and normal end result of the treatment. When the lesions are in the sloughing stage, they should not be scratched or picked as this would damage the skin leaving marks.

We have several different technologies available for pigmented lesion removal so that your treatments can e cusomtized specifically to address your needs and concerns. Frequently asked Questions

What is the treatment like?

IPL treatments are non-invasive and safe, with absolutely no down time. A broad band of light is applied, which is absorbed by the melanin in the pigment, causing it to darken and exfoliate over the next few days.

Am I a candidate for it?
Anyone with pigmented lesion is a good candidate for IPL treatment. Women trying to conceive or who are pregnant, people with uncontrolled diabetes and any open lesions are contraindicated to the treatment.

How long is the treatment?
Depending on the area and the concentration of the pigment the length of treatment may vary. A good assessment can be given after the consultation.
